My Canadians are Ready!
Hey FOW guys! Just putting it out there that my Canadian Rifle company is set to go to war. Nothing is painted and that is the way I like it! Have have about 1500 points. I would like to play a game against someone who has got the rules down so I can learn. Problem is, time is real tight right now. Let me know when you are free and maybe we can make something happen. Nino

Hey Nino, I'd happily get a game against you sometime (i have terrain and everything), but it be a little weird Irish vs Canadian. Only have 2 tanks so far for my axis force. But could still learn the rules that way.
Did you got to that fantasy tournament?

I'm free on the weekends most of the time, just let me know which day would be good for you and I'll try to make sure I don't get called in to work or anything. As far as I know, the only weekend I'll be busy both saturday and sunday will be super bowl weekend of the 6th and 7th.

Re: My Canadians are Ready!
Great! Thanks guys. We will try to get it going on soon one weekend. Maybe a Ghop. I don't have any FOW terrain but tons of Fantasy stuff (That would be cool!).
And yes, I played in the Fantasy tournament. I brought Dark Elves. I won 1, lost 1 and tied on one. I came in 6th out of 14. ehhh, not great. They hit me hard on my composition score, so that hurt me right from the beginning. But my dice rolling really didn't help. When your assassin has 8 attacks with hatred, killing blow and doesn't kill one member of a Empire detachement, you are in trouble. Plus, failing stupidity on a 10 at a crucial charge helped me lose. But still, lots of fun. Great place to play some games. Nino

Nino, do you have whichever particular supplement book you need to field them as canadians, or do you plan to field them as a regular british rifle company from fortress europe?

I have the "Montys MeatGrinder" book. It has the 3rd Canandian division in it (they can also be played a British). Plus, the Box set I bought comes with a 1500 point force already to play. Makes life real easy.
Re: My Canadians are Ready!
I see, I'll have to look into that Monty's Meatgrinder and see what special things are in there.

Nino, why did they hurt you on composition? Did you bring 2 Hydras or something?! heheheh...
Re: My Canadians are Ready!
Seems as though certain groups (not sure if its this one) frown upon anyone picking one of the "newer" armies that have been redone like dark elves, vampire counts and daemons, even before you go over the top with the good stuff. Maybe they saw dark elves and it left a bad first impression.

Some countries/tournaments have scores modified from the beginning due to army books. So demons would need to massacre orcs to win.

Re: My Canadians are Ready!
Actually, I thought my Dark Elf army was tough, but fair. No, only 1 hydra and only 1 bolt thrower. But as said, the Dark Elf book gets hit right from the get go. Plus, they didn't like some of my Magic weapon selections. Said I "Powergamed" a bit. A fine thing! Oh yeah, i think my assassin pissed them off too.....
Re: My Canadians are Ready!
While I understand that some books are on another level than the older ones, I'm still not a fan of the idea that you should or shouldn't take something because other people don't like it. You didn't take anything illegal after all.

Re: My Canadians are Ready!
Its the problem with armies bieng so apart in design. While legal its not really a fair game
Gw to be fair seems to not claim balance (at least from the white dwarves recently.
Having said that I think it should be clear before the event and be by book not list.

Yes thats true, I just feel bad for a person that lets say only has a vampire count army or something, and because of GW's fault they will get penalized wherever they go. On the bright side, there's no worrying about this in FoW, unless someone sneaks in a late war list to a mid war tournament.
